Lowe's made my day!

I had sooo much fun at the wedding Saturday so I thought today would be rather uneventful and very relaxing. The only plans I made for the day were to tiller the upper garden and get the wedding pictures uploaded, well so much for being wanting to be kinda lazy....
Gibby went into labor very early this morning.....
She had a cute (but very tiny) boy, her first kid. Almost immediately I noticed her bag on one side had started turning purple and was hard as a rock, she was also very warm to the touch. I called the vet and explained this to him and he said she had mastitis, so off to the vet I went to get medicine The medicine the vet gave me has to be administered every 12 hours (inside her bag) for 48 hours and a shot today and another shot 48 hours later.
I had to take the baby away from Gibby so she can heal (hopefully Gibby has no permanent damage), so I now have a bottle baby to raise. After my morning I should have quit while I was somewhat ahead but I decided to go ahead and till the upper garden (instead of going back to bed and getting up on the right side) :)
After tilling for about an hour my tiller broke it just quit going forward and the tines quit moving! I could go backwards and the tines would move but no forward. Great with the day I had so far I thought the nearest  repair dealership would be hours from here. I called my father-in-law and he helped me load it (by now its 4:30) and off to Lowe's I went! I went in with receipt in hand expecting a lot of talk and no help either. I was pleasantly surprised I have never been treated so great! The service desk helped me wright away and called someone out to unload it from my truck, he brought it in on the cart and left it in front of the service desk.
I handed her my receipt and while she was typing it into the computer the same gentlemen that unloaded my tiller loaded me a brand new one back on and I got a new receipt!  I was in and out of the store in less than 15 minutes!! They did not even start the tiller apparently since it was under 3 months old (I only had it 6 weeks) they took me at my word. They covered it at 100 percent replacement no questions asked! The way most of my day went though I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth! I covered the tiller (that is still on the truck) and I am waiting until tomorrow to unload it! (Just to be safe) :D

So I ended my day by taking a nice walk around the farm and did a bit of picture taking.:)
When I returned to the house while everyone else had roast with veggies, I made myself everyone a cast iron skillet full of fried potatoes with onions. Potatoes have always been a comfort food (must be the Irish in me)! I would say the day started out hurry hurry and the day has ended very well!!  :)

  1. That brown circular piece on the tree reminds me of the old porcelain “knobs” from knob and tube electrical wiring.

It is good to see that Lowes treated you well. They are a NC based company. The other Atlanta based big box goes through phases- almost flavors- of how they run their stores. Recently they have taken to selling homeowners packages with an odd number of electrical parts - parts that normally are used as pairs (connectors). Obvioulsy this tends to lead to left overs and over buying. Nice way to look after you customer.

    1. I was wondering what that brown piece was, I have walked those woods hundreds of times since I was a kid and that was the first time I noticed it!:)

  2. I am shocked you had such an easy time returning that tiller. That is the way it should be!

    1. I was very shocked that was the first time I have had to return something there. I was expecting them act like walmart (thats why only go there if I have to). They kinda went overboard with being nice! :)

  6. What a day, sometimes it just doesn't pay to get out of bed! Glad that Gibby is ok and the new kid is sure cute. Lowes is a great company. When the tornado happened last year at Joplin, we went to help out cooking food. Tyson set up on the Lowe's parking lot and came out to see if we needed anything. They gave us tables and chairs, even those patio covers that set up to protect you from the sun. They told us to tell anyone to come in for whatever they needed. It was tremendous help to people who had lost everything in that storm. Pretty good folks, I'd say!

  7. Hi Kim! Thanks for stopping by my blog. You actually left me an email at the beginning of May but I just did a new post about why I've been gone for awhile. I had to come over here and meet you and now I'm your newest follower. What town do you live in/near by? I was born and raised in the Sparta/Ozark area. Moved away when I was 25 and I sure do miss it!! I see where you live on 100 acres in an old farmhouse, how wonderful!! Being raised on a farm, I know it's hard work but I would never live in the city again. I am a country girl and I sure miss all those acres I was raised on. Just like all the wonderful pictures you took of your homeplace, there's no place like the country!

I hope Gibby is doing better now. She had an adorable boy! Good for you on getting great service at Lowe's! They've always been good to us but I've never had anything big like that. Nice to know they take care of their customers.

Oh, and I love fried taters! Sometimes I cook hot dogs with mine, that's how I was raised but hubby doesn't like his that way, lol. Nice visiting with you, looking forward to following your blog. Have a wonderful weekend~
