So fun being a Nanny!

This has been such a happy and busy week, although it didn't start that way....
We had more ice than snow fall last Saturday so we could not get out our 3/4 mile drive Sunday or Monday. Most days this is okay with me, but since my daughters floor was getting the finishing touches done and she was with us....and 6 days over due I was a nervous wreck! My Mom (I am her caregiver) was all excited she kept going on and on about how her mom (my grandma) was a midwife and how many children my grandma delivered and how many mom got to assist with and she could deliver the baby herself and my daughters whatever will be will be attitude.....between both of them I had my hands full! :)
The little one decided to wait until the inducing on Tuesday and by then we could get out our drive. :) she was born at 2:17pm and weighed 7lb 15 oz. I am one proud Nanny and icing on the cake her house will not be ready until later this week so I get to hold her every day (when her mommy doesn't have her)
And then of course there is great Grandma (my mom) that also gets her turn, here is great grandma burping her (this little lady is going to be so spoiled!)
I wish this weather would make up its mind! This picture was taken the day after the baby was born, my son and I had the kids at the park and it was beautiful out. The weatherman (hope he is wrong) says we will be getting another storm in a few days....

Reminiscing, College Graduation and the garden....

This post starts out with a bit of reminiscing....
Hubby and I on May 24, 1986, this week makes 27 years that I have been married to my best friend! :)
Our oldest daughter Mel and son Jake at Halloween.... I think the "looking through old photos" this morning was because I have been feeling just a tiny bit like "were did the time go"! and I want it back kinda thing. My baby graduated last May from High School and my oldest just graduated from her first college this week. Now (for her) two more colleges to go and my son starts back in the fall, my babies, I finally realized grew up on me!
Both our girls

Melissa does stand out in a crowd always has haha..... (they let her dye her hair pink for graduation, but would not allow combat boots), she says just one more year of play, at her graduation next May she has to grow up, no more being silly with hair etc.....then for the last four years of college, she said will be time to grow up  :(
All three of our babies together on the left and hubby and our daughter on the right, the graduation was very special, kinda sad for me...but very special....now on to other things...
Our grand daughter is so silly...she comes running in the other day and says nanny...Got Milk?
I took a nasty fall a few day before the garden could finally be planted.....my luck.... was wondering what I was going to do because it had to be planted, they were prediction rain the next day (again)  and the ground just was dry enough to plant. I did get it tilled, the way I felt it took me the better part of the day! When I was starting to plant my sister, youngest daughter and her boyfriend came out and planted the whole garden for me! :) I told them I felt loved! The only thing left to plant is the Marigold's around the garden. :)
Einstein came out from hiding for a while today, she has a nest somewhere but I have not been able to find it yet (she is the one on the back right with the top knot). I am hoping the nest is close to home so nothing will get her at night....

December and a bit of January

There have been sooo many things happen in December that I did not have time to post, looking back its hard to remember everything! Mom was in and out of the hospital with pneumonia and since mom is a little afraid of being alone I stayed at the hospital with her only leaving to run home and take care of the animals and make sure everything was running well without me there...then back to the hospital. I do have good news Mom has been home this week and so far so good :) we are focusing on her getting her strength back this is also why (with the flue going around) we are planing on staying home and hopefully prevent her from getting this so soon after her bout with pneumonia. Here is a bit happiness from December

My little niece and nephew were also born in December :)

This is Libby she was born 12/5/12

This is Blake he was born 12/12/12
My Mom is on the left (Great Gma) and  my sister
on the right (Grandma) this was taken a week
before Mom got sick.
They are both doing great! We also had a few births here on the farm Ellie had a little girl and she was born 12/24/12 so her name is easy we decided to call her Noel, I liked Eve but we already have an Eve. Ellie is our Dexter and the little ones father is an Angus so we have our first Dangus (love that word) :)
She was only a few hours old in this picture I used the zoom
because I didnt want to upset Ellie.
We also have one birth so far for January this is Bella's baby (her first calf) and she did so good!
She also was only a few hours old when I took this picture, the
difference though is Bella's one of my pets so she let me walk
up to her calf to take the picture :)
We have also had a problem with coyotes the past few weeks, we usually see a few here and there and sometimes they come to close to the house for my comfort! The past week though we think they have a den close to the house (we found a place that looks like they are using) and since its mating season we can step out anytime after 6:00pm and hear them its almost like in a horror story, they sound sooo close and its at least 15 t0 20 of them. I am not worried as long as they leave our animals alone and they will calm down in a bit, it does make me jump though when I have to fill up the outside wood stove at night now and since we have had a few days of single digits it seems like I am our there more than normal! :)
Just to be safe though I have Snowflake, Ellie and Bella and their babies in the barn lot so I can keep an eye on them. I am sure there have been other happenings here on the farm, but I am hard pressed to remember them all.

Baby showers

Two of my nieces are due next month and due only a couple of days apart. Their baby showers were last weekend one was Friday night and the other Saturday afternoon. We all had a lot of fun, but I had way to much cake and ice cream with the parties being within 24 hours of each other! I did manage to get both presents finished for my sisters to give their grand baby's and I also managed to get my quilt done for one and the diaper bag and burp pads finished for the other. I was finishing mine literally the day of each shower so I forgot to take any pictures.
This was the cake at my niece's baby shower Friday night (she is having a girl)
This was the cake at my other niece's baby shower on Saturday afternoon (she is having a boy)
This is both of them at one of the baby showers I think they look so cute! :)

My Aunt

My Aunt (my moms sister-in-law) just moved into an assisted living home so Mom and I went to visit her. I was worried (the usual) was it ok, was she happy etc...although this is a place she has been to before (it belongs to a long time friend of hers), its the first time we have been there and it is so cute! This log cabin (the owner) took apart and moved to his place, re-assembled and did all the work himself for the residents to enjoy.
This covered bridge he also built himself, the creek goes across in front of his house so you have to cross the bridge.
This you see as you are pulling into the driveway added with the homes  rock and wood siding with huge beams and logs inside (forgot to take a picture of the home). The house is so beautiful with huge windows floor to ceiling in the common room and dining rooms with fresh cut flowers and sunlight streaming though everywhere. It also has a spring down the road so the creek is always flowing, it sounds so beautiful from her window. She also has her own room with her own adjoining bathroom, she seems to like it and is doing really good! I know when we were there visiting her its a very calm and relaxing place, I am so happy for her. Realizing you need help and moving to an assisted care facility is never easy but it was made all the easier for her because she is with friends. My Mom is also happy because its only 18 miles from our farm, so I can drive her there anytime she wants. :)

Hubbys Birthday

Hubby's birthday was Sunday so we did all our work yesterday (Saturday) and just sat around and relaxed and did really nothing! It has been kinda nice that outside of our normal chores we just watched TV and my daughter, grand daughter and I baked! The main thing (of course) was hubby's birthday cake the day was so calm and then.......
My grand daughter was so excited to ice her Papa's cake all by herself! Then she ran in to tell Papa we were ready to sing Happy Birthday and she fell and busted her lip. She split her little lip all the way up and down so we had to wait until she felt like singing. Once we got the bleeding to stop, she sat with an ice pack until the swelling went down. Then she was ready for the party.
She sorta gave me a smile, but the lip didn't stop her from Papa's cake she had two pieces! :)

Youngest Daughter

This is how I found my youngest daughter sleeping
the other morning! Did her stuffed animal try to
eat her while sleeping?

Mom and Linda

Linda (my sister) on the left and Mom on the right,
they look a lot alike
