Our chickens have managed to do something I did not think they could do, today they found another odd place to lay their eggs (four foot high). I think its time for another weeks stay in their house again. The last time they stayed a week they were good girls and lay in their house, but it only lasted for about a month. We will try again (fingers crossed) this time it will work permanently or at least most of them will continue laying in the hen house.
Tidbit (I guess his new name is Gilbert, that is what he answers to) is doing great although he thinks he is a dog and runs around the yard, plays with the dogs and when my grand daughters around is constantly by her side.
The upper garden is doing well, the lower one is doing fine also I just got it planted a little later.
The zucchini are also doing good
The black berries are doing great considering the hot and dry weather we have had. I have (so far) picked 5 gallons to can and tomorrow I am picking for our pies. Why is it when picking black berries the best ones are in the middle! No matter how much I tell myself no I will not, I still try to get them.....this ends with only a few big berries (that I manage to reach) and a lot of scratches for my work.
And usually I end the day with Cuddles my ummm........sweetheart of a goat :)
Always into something, if only she could put her noisiness to good use and learn to mow the lawn....
What a wonderful post...Your garden looks so good compared to ours..We've had no rain in awhile and it's dried up everything..I need to be picking blackberries also but can't seem to get out early enough in the mornings..Hope you have a nice week,Susie
ReplyDeleteThanks Susie, My lower garden does not look as good I was late getting it out and it is not close to our well like the upper garden. The upper garden I water every three days. We also need rain so bad our grass is turning brown and today will be the last of the blackberry picking they are all dried up.
DeleteHave you thought of keeping one or two clay eggs in each nestbox to keep your hens attracted to the boxes? Your goats are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI looked around for eggs and I only found plastic ones and the hens did not like them. I will check around for clay eggs I had not thought of that
