Another good day

Happy, happy day I just got another order on the embroidery machine (small order) but that's better than nothing! Since I had to quit my job a while back to be my mom's care giver (that I love), it gets kinda hard sometimes to live on one paycheck (bills stay the same) when we have always had two paychecks and still try to keep with my 10 year plan! My embroidery machine has been a small way for me to pick up some extra income. Its odd how the smallest things seem to bring on the best feelings in this life we chose to live! If this was before I quit my job a small order would not have been exciting it would have actually been a little depressing. I also did not have time to make and donate items, I talked about wanting to (a lot) but that was as far as it got. I started making and donating items in 2010 and so far this year I have made 6 lap blankets for the State Patrol and 18 pillows and 6 teddy bears for the children's hospital :) Cant wait though for the yard sales to start I am running low on material and since I purchase most of my material at yard sales I am sooo glad they will start up next month! A lot of the material I have in the past lucked out and found new but I still wash, dry and iron every item before turning them into lap blankets, teddy bears etc. Also another plus has been (as far as my surroundings go) in the past I had never really paid a lot of attention to except going to and from work, life was just to hectic! I realize now how we were just going thru the motions, it saddens me to now realize the small things that I would have thought unimportant, like setting a clothes line or hanging clothes to dry in the house during the winter to save on the electric bill or planting seeds and watching them grow...I was tickled pink when hubby set my clothes line and I no longer worry if company stops by and I have clothes hanging in the house to dry in the winter! :)  in the past so many things would have been a "why bother" or I don't have time anyway and living without a clothes dryer since 2009 never would have happened before! I could go on and on with the changes in my life (all good!) I guess that's a little of "with age comes wisdom" nothing is taken for granted anymore with us, our life together, our family and our health! If only we could back track (knowing what we know now) how different things would have been! I guess though better late than never! Since my mind is on this track this morning if I had to kinda sum things up in a nut shell, I work harder (for less pay) have more fun doing it and still have time to smell the flowers, or most of the time grow them! Thank God for the small things in our lives  :)
This is Purty one of our spoilt chickens, she has taken to flying up and landing on my shoulder every morning and every evening while I am bottle feeding the baby calf. :) Life sure is fun when your  living on a farm!

  1. I stopped in from Rhonda's blog. I'm very impressed that you are taking care of your mother. So many youngsters these days have careers that do not allow that, or a husband or whatever. Your mother is a lucky woman and so are you!
