My oven is fixed!

My hubby is so adorable! I have worried all week and priced stoves (this made me realize I cant afford a new/used stove) when he came home Tuesday night he took my stove apart and ran into town and got the parts. One of the wires in the back shorted out and also the lower element went out all the in the same week but he managed to repair/replace both (lucky they were in stock) now I can bake and use my stove top again Yay! Just in time for Thanksgiving :) This has made me realize I need to start a new envelope for appliance repair or replacement..... My brother dropped off 2 huge pumpkins last week and since my stove was broke I just looked at them all week :) With my oven repaired I  managed to get one worked up yesterday, I canned 7 quarts for pies and I froze 6 quarts for fried pumpkin along with all the cooking for Thanksgiving. :)
They are both huge....I will get the other one done today. I love fried pumpkin more than pie so I think I'll make most of tomorrow's into that, its actually faster than canning anyway. There is nothing better to me than fried pured pumpkin cooked in butter, Cinnamon and brown sugar on a hot homemade biscuit YUM! Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! :)

  1. I am so glad your husband was able to fix the oven. Hooray! I have been thinking about the oven debacle and wondered how it was all going. You got the best of both worlds...a working oven and not having to spend a lot of money on another one.

I have never heard of fried pumpkin. One of these days would you explain the recipe? I grew up on the west coast and apparently no one ever fixed that dish that I knew.

  2. Yes, we did. Did you? We moved last year from the state where all of our family is so it was just the two of us and me baking breads, pie, and a couple of chicken breasts with the fixins. Nothing fancy but ample. We felt very blessed and we are grateful.

    1. We did but some could not make it for lunch so I had a breakfast for the ones that could not make it. Breakfast consisted of sausage gravy, deer gravy, fried deer, biscuits and scrambled eggs. Then the normal turkey and sides for lunch, I was sooo tired by last night. I sure did sleep good though! :)

  4. So happy for you that you got your oven fixed! I know that must be a great relief.
I am so glad to hear that someone else has not only heard of fried pumpkin, but also likes it! Although it sounds like we make it slightly differently, I love fried pumpkin, but every time I say something about it, I get strange looks from people and a sheepish... "fried pumpkin.. okay." They just don't know what they are missing! And then there are the fried bananas...mmmmm
