I have one of the best sisters ever!! I have been wanting and hoping for a pressure canner for a long time now (actually years) but they are sooo expensive! I kept putting it off and only canned what the hot water baths would allow and the rest I would freeze. Now with my dear sweet sisters gift it is going to open a whole new world to me with regards to canning. :) Then of course I am sending a lot of canned goodness her way also. :)
I can see all the canning I will be doing in the very near future, I just need to read the book and make myself familiar with the pressure canner :) I told hubby he needs to get a deer this season so I can try canning this also. If anyone has any tried and true canning recipes I would love to try them! :)
How exciting! I use this exact canner at least once a week! Enjoy!!

I would love to find out a few things like how does it work without a pressure guage, how do you know if it is staying really 5,10, 15 pounds of pressure? Guess I am just a little scared about trying it, would appreciate any help :)
DeleteCongratulations on the pressure canner. My advice, read the directions & then read them again. Try a couple of easy recipes & then it's cake from there.
ReplyDeleteI want to get a Presto for the smaller batches of stuff I get every so often. Good luck & happy canning!
b-t-w .. How's the new calf?
DeleteThanks and yes I have read it over and over, I am a little scared I hope after the first canning I calm down a little :)
DeleteThe calf is doing fine but still not nursing, I am still bottle feeding and the Mom has calmed down (thank goodness) when I am with her baby. I am going to try putting her in the head shoot tomorrow morning and see if I can get the calf to nurse, fingers crossed!
