Wagon Wheel Weaving, (making the frame)

I am so happy! Hubby made the legs for my wagon wheel to set on so I can try my hand at making wagon wheel rugs. I found these rugs at a festival last fall and spoke to the lady demonstrating for a lengthy time and realized I love the story, the way they are made and the finished product. Plus hubby and I ended up having really nothing in the wheel or the finished table! The wagon wheel was given to me by one of our neighbors (love our neighbors, most are so helpful)! The 2x4s and 2x6s we had stored in the barn from previous odd projects and the paint was given to me by my mother-in-law that she had left over and stored in her garage. So total in this project was a whole whopping $0, cant go wrong with that! :)

Hubby made three of these for me
while I painted the wagon wheel. He
also cut the slit in the top of each
 with his chainsaw
I now need the fabric cut up so that will be my project for the next few days (maybe more) but since its supposed to snow tomorrow... from what I understand from the demonstration at the festival it usually takes between 15 to 20 yards of fabric (I have lots of fabric stored). I am cutting the cotton fabric 1 1/2 inches wide and rolling them into balls of 4 to 5 yards long each. It usually takes anywhere form 30-35 hours to do a rug (this is what the instructor said), I am sure it will take me a lot longer! :)
This is the wheel on the legs all set up and
ready to go.

    1. I will be sure to do that soon, thanks for reminding me! I worked on it about 16 hours then leaned the frame up against the wall and went back to my crochet rugs, I will get it back up and work on it again. Thats one of the things I like about blogging because I do sooo forget when I put something away for a while! :)
