Things started fine but in a flash not so good, early this morning the electric just went out in part of the house. First thing that went through my mind was do I smell smoke and went running through the house, but everything was ok. Well this meant that we had no heat in the whole house! (outside wood furnace, electric fan). I called the electrician and they said would not be able to make it until tomorrow morning, I called my brother (he is an electrician) but he said he was busy, so what to do.....Hubby will not be back home until Saturday (and mom will not leave the house)....so I decided to be very very careful and got hubby's wire checker and started checking wires (I have seen him do this before). I said a few prayers (actually a lot) like please don't let me get electrocuted! Well I found the wire that was dead and went out and turned off the breaker (actually all, just to be sure!). I then removed the cover and the cap off the white wires first to see if they were all wrapped around each other and they were. Next I took of the cap covering the black wires off and one of the wires somehow had come unwrapped so it lost connection. I re wrapped the three black wires, put the cap back on (nerves were shot) took a few minutes relax! Turned the power back on and the electric came back on (the whole house), I would never have tried to fix it if it would have been anything more I am terrified of electric, I think I took off a few years of my life! I do not usually drink, but I am thinking a hot toddy is in order :)
On to happier things, my sister got me this wall hanging for Christmas and its one of my favorite presents. I know just where it is going! On the porch to the left of our front door and I am going to get together some of our old items from the barn and hang around it. The wall on the porch we left the siding alone it's the old (I think its called) clap board siding? original from when the house was built in the late 1800s. I think it will look nice when its all finished, I wonder if I will ever have all my projects done, its like when I finish one I start three more.... :)
Well good for you!! Electricity doesn't terrify me but I want no parts of it. I'm proud of you, I probably wouldn't have touched it.
